Welcome and Opening

The Connecting Climate Minds Global Event opening session includes welcomes from the project lead, the hosting region and the funder. It will also mark the launch of the Global Online Hub, a collaborative space for ideas, dialogues and connection on the intersection between climate change and mental health.

Keynote

Pamela Collins, MD, MPH, is Bloomberg Centennial Professor and Chair of the Department of Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a leader in the field of global mental health. Her research focuses on the intersections of mental health and HIV care in the US and sub-Saharan Africa, the effects of intersectional stigma on health outcomes, and the mental health needs of urban adolescents in diverse settings.

Session 6

Research for People and Planet: All Work is Lived Experience Work

In this session, the Lived Experience Working Group (LEWG) delve into the diverse lived experiences encountered in the CCM project. We'll kick off with a warm invocation, encouraging participants to share their insights on climate change and mental health. Through a storytelling circle, we'll showcase a range of narratives and explore opportunities to move forward with. Then, we will share outputs from the LEWG team to engage a broader audience. Participants will depart with actionable steps to leverage project materials and continue the dialogue.

Session 7

Regional spotlight Oceania

This hybrid session will celebrate the breadth of wisdom and diversity of voices from the Oceania Connecting Climate Minds regional community. During this session, the Oceania team will showcase our region’s unique places, and diversity of cultures and knowledge systems, and the importance of community engagement, highlighting key elements of the Regional Research and Action Agenda and relevant research, policy and practice initiatives in the region, and concluding with next steps for the regional community.

Session 8

Regional Spotlight Eastern and South-Eastern Asia

This hybrid session will showcase and celebrate the breadth of wisdom and diversity of voices from the Eastern and South-Eastern Asia regional community of Connecting Climate Minds. During this session, regional representatives joining in-person in Barbados as well as virtually will present the highlights of the Regional Research and Action Agenda, as well as a selected case study and lived experience story - all communicating a collective vision for the future of the climate change and mental health field in the region.

This opening session for day two will recap the key messages from day one, highlight the forthcoming sessions on day two and share the latest mental health and climate change cartoons summarising the discussion.

Regional Spotlight Central and Southern Asia

Embark on an insightful and creative journey into the intersection of climate change and mental health across the 14 countries of Central and Southern Asia. Join us in celebrating the rich diversity of voices as we explore intriguing findings from our regional dialogues, delve into research themes, prioritize actions, examine impactful case studies, share lived experiences, and envision future initiatives in climate change and mental health research and action. Closing Ceremony

In this Closing Session you will hear from Dr Kyle Hill, Indigenous professor and researcher in the field of Environmental Health, see how to sign-up to the community on the Global Online Hub, have a chance to make a commitment to taking this work forward and hear from Professor David Nabarro as he concludes the conference
